Lake Wilderness Arboretum
Showcasing the Northwest ecosystem and a Western Azalea garden - Open dawn to dusk

Events for Tuesday, October 5, 2010

The following events are scheduled for October 5:

  • Choosing and Caring for Landscape Trees --- 7:00 PM Until 8:30 PM
The Pacific Northwest is a region ideally suited for growing many different plants. So do you wonder why so many landscape trees die an early death? In this seminar, Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott will teach you how to select a healthy tree from the nursery, how to properly install it, and how to care for it so it lives for decades, not months.

Dr. Chalker-Scott has a PH.D. in Horticulture from Oregon State University and is an ISA certified arborist. She is WSU's Extension Urban Horticulturist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. She is a regular contributor for "Master Gardener Magazine" and has written several books including "The Informed Gardener" and "The Informed Gardener Blooms Again." She also edited/authored "Sustainable Landscapes and Gardens: Good science-practical application".

Location: Tahoma Junior High School at 25600 SE Summitt-Landsburg Rd.
