Man Vs. Knotweed   (Posted 10/21/2009)
Friends of the Cedar River Watershed have teamed up with Cascade Land Conservancy, King County, and private land owners to reclaim shoreline habitat and property from a particularly nasty invasive plant species. Knotweed is an aggressive perennial that crowds out native species and destabilizes shorelines; in turn degrading habitat for salmon and other wildlife and making homes more vulnerable to the impacts of flooding.

From October 31 through December 12, Friends will launch the first stage of several volunteer events to restore knotweed-infested sites in the lower Cedar River basin. See http://cedarriver.org/for more information.
