The Lake Wilderness Arboretum
is located in Maple Valley, Washington
adjacent to Lake
Wilderness Park.
In addition to its focus on Northwest
native plants, the Arboretum features
one of the world's largest collections
of Western Azalea (Rhododendron
occidentale). The Arboretum's urban forest and cultivated gardens provide
the backdrop for educational and passive recreational
opportunities that are readily available and free to the public.
Maintenance and ongoing development of the Arboretum, as well as a rich set of educational programs, is carried out

Volunteer OpportunitiesRegularly scheduled work sessions at the Arboretum provide a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups. Weekly on Wednesdays, volunteers typically work on landscaping tasks and on Thursdays, they meet for plant propagation, potting, and other nursery-related tasks. On the first Saturday of each month, we have a community work party. Check our Event List for times. Other opportunities can be arranged by contacting us.
